The Weston Road Academy is pleased to report some outstanding achievements by its students in their A Level/GCSEs and other qualifications this summer.
In the Sixth Form, seven students achieved at least 3 A* grades and over half of the students achieved at least three A*-B grades. The majority of students are going onto study at their preferred educational establishment, with over half of the cohort progressing to Russell Group universities. Two students have successfully gained places at Cambridge University and three students will be studying medicine.
At GCSE level, three students have achieved a grade 9 in all subjects. The vast majority of subjects have impressed with an average grade of at least a 5.
This year, following the cancellation of exams, grades were awarded through a process of teacher assessed grades, against a national standard and approved and awarded by the exam boards. The government is not publishing performance data for any schools or colleges this year due to the varying impact of the pandemic.
Mrs Kingman, the school's headteacher said: "The Weston Road Academy prides itself on providing the best possible learning experience for the students and this year has been no exception, despite the unusual circumstances. We are immensely proud of all the work and achievements of our students, who have shown amazing resilience and determination throughout their courses. Our staff, as always, have worked tirelessly to ensure students are all able to progress onto further education and study, and we look forward to seeing what they will achieve in the future. Congratulations to the class of 2021!"
